Rowan/Mountain Ash (Sorbus Aucuparia)

This tree is best planted in parkland or verges as it does not thrive in areas with excessive reflected heat such as paved and hard surfaces. Arguably our prettiest native tree whose berries are such a staple for our native birds.

These deciduous trees tend to grow upwards rather than outwards and over the years their canopies form dense crowns. With their dense foliage and shining red to orange berries they make good ornamental trees for parks and gardens. As a favourite with birds they are magnet for local wildlife. They do not take the light from other surrounding trees.
